Performance Management Governors

Membership

The governing body is required to appoint a minimum of two governors, and preferably three, to:

Terms of Reference

Meet with the Headteacher to review the Headteacher’s performance against previously agreed objectives

    Agree objectives for the forthcoming Performance Management Cycle relating to:

    • Pupil Progress

    • Leadership and Management

    • The Headteacher’s Professional Development/NPQH

    • Record the outcome of the review meeting and provide a copy for the Chair of the governing body and a summary on request to the Executive Director : Childrens' Services

    • Make recommendations regarding the Headteacher’s salary to the Pay Matters Committee

    • Ensure that the CPD leader is aware of the resourcing implications arising from agreed objectives

    • Appoint an external Adviser to help them with the above tasks

    • Be familiar with DFES guidance on the governing body’s role in Performance Management.

Teachers and other staff working at the school may not be the Performance Management governors.
