(Pupil) Discipline Committee

Membership

• Any number of governors may be appointed to a pool from which 3 or 5 governors will meet when considering particular exclusions

Quorum

The quorum for a meeting is 3. The headteacher may not be a member of this committee..

Meetings

The committee shall meet as required.

Terms of Reference

• To review the use of exclusion within the school

• To report to the Governing Body on the use of exclusion

• To consider pupil exclusion in line with current legislation.

Appoinment of Chair

The Chair will be appointed by the governing body or decided at each meeting of the committee by the governors attending.

Clerk

• The governing body shall decide upon the appointment and remuneration of a Clerk to the committee.  The Clerk may not be a governor or member of the committee Teacher and Staff governors may face difficult situations because of the nature of the business of the Discipline committee and are recommended to consider their involvement very carefully before joining.
